A maximum of two student competitors per team should be designated to represent the team in the Parade of States during the Opening Ceremony. Be creative and have fun thinking of ways to visually represent your team and state during this Science Olympiad tradition. However, please be aware of the following guidelines:
- Banners may be a maximum of 4’ wide in order to ensure that they can easily fit down the center aisle; the height of the banner is at the discretion of the individual team, but please ensure that participants can easily see over it
- All participants must be fully clothed at all times
- Participants may not carry one another
- The following items are prohibited: helium balloons or anything inflatable; fire or anything flammable; glitter, confetti, bubbles, or rice; lasers, laser pointers, flashlights, projectiles, soundmakers; pets or animals (except service animals)
Tickets: All team representatives will need to present Parade of States tickets for entry into the line-up location. These tickets will be provided to head coaches during onsite team registration on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30. Once the Parade of States has concluded, team representatives will be seated along with the other official student competitors from their teams in the reserved areas in the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center.
